JULIA MAY SANBORN

Originally from Washington State, Julia May Sanborn started dancing at age two. Julia May trained in the Vaganova under Ms Jane Venezia. From age eight to fifteen she trained in Cecchetti under Ms Heather Cote and Vaganova under Mr Tim Dobbins at The Academy of Dance in Dickinson, ND. At the age of 16, Julia May moved to Bismarck and learned under Ms Nia Lighter, Ms Katherine Hardy, Ms Taryn Johnson, Ms Rosari Sarasvaty, and Ms Hollis Mackintosh-Heid. Gaining a broad understanding of many methods including Cecchetti, RAD and a mixture of other classical ballet styles at Northern Plains Dance. She received her comprehensive pre-professional training at The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory, where she studied under esteemed faculty including Victoria Mazzarelli, Timothy Melady, Joan Kunsch, Donna Bonasera, Alexei Tchernichov, and Eleanor D’Antuono.  Through the many years Julia May trained extensively in Vaganova ballet, pointe, partnering, modern, character dance, and she also trained in jazz, contemporary, tap, musical theater, and pilates. During her summers her training has been increasingly enhanced through her training included instruction at the Academy of Dance, Northern Plains Dance, Ballet Magnificat, and The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory. 
Highlights in her repertoire include the Sugar Plum Fairy, Arabian Soloist, Spanish Soloist, from The Nutcracker, Peasant Pas de Deux Giselle, Mercedes Don Quixote Act 1, as well as a range of classical variations, neoclassical and contemporary works.

This season, Julia May is grateful to have this opportunity to be growing in her love for dance and technique with Ballet Hartford.
