Young Dancer Program

Creative Movement (3 yrs)

School of Ballet Hartford’s Creative Movement classes are for young dancers ages 3 years. This 45 min class emphasizes the development of motor skills, emotional expression, musicality and the joy of dance.

Primary (4 yrs)

In our primary level we begin to formalize movement and coordination that will benefit ballet progression. Students become more familiar and confident with body repetition. Imagination and expression are still an integral part of this level.

Pre-Ballet

Pre Ballet is a continuation of Primary and introduces foundational vocabulary and terminology. Students will enjoy a basic warm up, center movement and learn basic ballet etiquette. Creativity, rhythm and coordination are fostered in a joyful environment.

Intermediate Program

Ballet I

Ballet I enforces the basics of barre work with a heavier emphasis on ballet etiquette. Students will learn how to properly stand at the barre, turnout their legs and begin shaping and strengthening positions and movements.

Ballet II

Ballet II is a foundational class in which students are formally introduced to ballet vocabulary and learn movement in a disciplined manner. Musicality is a major emphasis of this class and students will begin to learn and build on their training a la barre and in center practice.

Ballet III

Ballet III is geared for the serious minded student and is by invitation only. Students are expected to comprehend at a quickened pace and learn choreography while maintaining their strong technical foundation.
