JAYDA HAZELETT
Indiana born and raised, Jayda Hazelett began dancing at the age of 3. Jayda transitioned to Project Ballet (formerly New American Youth Ballet) at age nine and began her formal ballet training under Beth McLeish. Jayda graduated from The Academic Conservatory at Project Ballet in 2020 with an honors diploma and then pursued degrees in Spanish and Ballet Performance at Indiana University’s (IU) Jacobs School of Music. While at IU, Jayda trained under renowned teachers such as Sarah Wroth, Kyra Nichols, Carla Korbës, Sasha Janes, Michael Vernon, Christian Classens, as well as various guest stagers. Jayda especially enjoyed performing Balanchine works, such as Serenade and Valse Fantaisie, as well as working closely with stager Michael Shawn Breeden in Justin Peck’s In Creases and Heat Scape. Jayda graduated from IU in 2024 and joined Ballet Hartford as an apprentice, under the directorship of Claire Kretzschmar, former soloist with New York City Ballet. Jayda was privileged to perform featured roles throughout the season and was promoted to the corps de ballet for the 2025-2026 season. Aside from dancing, Jayda is passionate about teaching ballet, Pilates, and piano. She is a certified ballet Leap ‘N Learn teacher as well as a Club Pilates reformer instructor. She hopes to share the joy of ballet and music through teaching, as well as make Pilates accessible for dancers as an aid in their career.
