Audition for Ballet Hartford

 Ballet Hartford is looking for male and female dancers with strong classical technique for the 2024-2025 season.  All company auditions will be held via company class. To receive an invitation to audition, email audition materials (listed below) to ldoran@ballethartford.com

  • Individual company class auditions are by invitation only. Individuals interested in being considered for a company class audition must submit the following materials:

    1. Résumé /CV

    2. Completed Application Form (click below)

    3. Current headshot and 2 full body dance photos

    4. Video link (Vimeo or YouTube only) to audition reel. Reel should include a short sample of barre and center work along with a classical and contemporary variation (females en pointe)

  • Please ensure that all of the items listed below are brought to your company class audition:

    1. Completed Audition Application Form

    2. Two full body dance photos

      *Profile 1st arabesque (females en pointe). No costumes or skirts, please. Females should wear leotard and tights and Males should wear black tights and form fitting t-shirt

      *Contemporary dance photo

    3. Current Headshot

    4. Résumé / CV

    5. Two letters of recommendation

    6. Audition Fee ($30 USD)

  • *Applicants must be 18 years of age and have completed High School by September 1st of the year they will enter the company.

    *Applicants must submit a completed Application packet and audition fee.

    Ballet Hartford reserves the right to adjust and amend all aforementioned rules and requirements, at its discretion, in circumstances it deems unique or extraordinary

Season FAQs

  • Ballet Hartford’s season runs September through May including main stage performances in Hartford, throughout the northeast and across the country. Ballet Hartford also engages in outreach events to serve our community.

  • Dancers are responsible for their own housing. Some choose to rent houses or apartments together. Our staff can assist Dancers in finding housing.

  • Most Dancers work evenings and weekends. There are many businesses in the surrounding areas that are suitable for finding work.

  • It is recommended that dancers have a car for ease in transportation.

  • Ballet Hartford observes standard holidays including Thanksgiving break, Winter break, and certain observed holidays.

  • Many of Ballet Hartford’s professional dancers have already graduated from college or university. Some dancers who are pursuing higher education while dancing with Ballet Hartford choose to take night classes at local community colleges or take courses online.

  • Ballet Hartford Company Artists are permitted to dress for class and rehearsal as is fitting to a Professional Ballet Company.

    Disclaimer Statement: All Ballet Hartford Dancers are asked to use careful discernment in making choices as to their attire for classes and rehearsals. Modesty is expected. All final decisions pertaining to Ballet Hartford Dancer’s attire are at the discretion of the Artistic Director.

  • Dancers have the opportunity to perform in many main-stage productions, festivals, and outreach events. Please see our tickets and upcoming and/or performance history section on our website for a list of performances.
